From Štrbské Pleso to Jamské pleso and back

This is an easy, half-day long hike through forests. The trail is clearly waymarked.

Begin

Start at the lake of Štrbské pleso. On its south-west shore behind Hotel Solisko, find a guidepost with waymarked hiking trails. Choose the red trail – Tatranská magistrála. It is easy and it leads to Rázcestie pod Furkotskou dolinou (trail junction at 1,457 m above sea level).

To Jamské pleso

From the trail junction, keep following the red waymarked trail. Then continue through the forest with the Biely Váh River below. It is still a small stream here. Pass by Odbočka na Biely Váh (trail junction at 1,458 m above sea level) and walk all the way to the end point of this hike – Jamské pleso (1,448 m above sea level). The lake lies in a pine forest and takes up 0.67 hectares. Jamské pleso is not one of the deepest lakes in the High Tatras – its maximum depth is 4.2 metres.

Return

Hike back to Štrbské Pleso on one of the following trails:

1. The same trail you used on your way here – follow the red trail through Rázcestie pod Furkotskou dolinou.
2. From the trail junction of Odbočka na Biely Váh, follow the blue waymarked trail above the Biely Váh River to Jamrichovo (trail junction at 1,220 m above sea level). From here, follow the green trail all the way to Štrbské Pleso.
