The trail can be accessed by car or the Tatra tram.
You can get to the trail either using the Tatra Electric Railway, or by car. Parking is available at the tram station. Visitors with limited mobility need to be accompanied.
Start at the station of the Tatra Electric Railway at Popradské pleso and from there, follow the blue waymarked tarmac road. About 4.5 kilometres later, you will reach the end point of this trip – Popradské Pleso.
Right at the lake, Chata pri Popradskom plese invites you to sit down for a drink or a tasty meal. It is the most visited chalet in the High Tatras and is open all year round. Another chalet on the shore is Majláthova chata that was built in 1880. It has been destroyed several times by fire and snow. In 2014, the chalet underwent reconstruction and was expanded.
Take in the spectacular view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The trail copies the shore all the way to the lake’s south-west tip. Then it turns right, and for a little while it runs next to the stream flowing out of the lake. Popradské pleso got its name from the Poprad River that runs through it. The lake covers 6.88 hectares and is 17 metres deep.
